Your skin may be "oily" or "acne-prone" if it:

  • Is thick and shiny or dull, often appearing greasy by midday

  • Has blackheads, pimples, or other blemishes

  • Has enlarged pores, especially on the nose, chin, and forehead

Recommended Skin Care Routine:

Stop attacking your skin! Overcleansing and using a million different chemically-laden products to try to tackle the problem will only make it worse in the long run. Having oily or acne-prone skin does not mean your skin is dirty. Rather, like sensitive skin, oiliness and blemishes are often a response to external and/or internal aggravators (diet, lifestyle, allergies/sensitivities, hormones, genetics, etc). And sometimes, oiliness in particular is your skin's way of obtaining homeostasis - so if you wash the oil off your face, your skin will produce more to compensate. Addressing those core issues will make the biggest impact, all the while following a natural, simple skin care regimen that is gentle on your skin, such as:

DAY-TIME ROUTINE

  1. Splash face with water or gently swipe skin with a natural toner.
  2. Apply AIKI SKIN FACE OIL for Oily/Acne-Prone Skin, as it's formulated with light, "drying" oils to help offset oily skin, as well as antibacterial, healing essences to gently combat blemishes. Pump once for ideal amount and massage into damp skin after cleansing.
  3. Apply AIKI SKIN SHEA BALM if and only where needed - Melt a small amount in palm and spot-apply on drier areas of skin. Great for additional hydration during winter months.
  4. If using makeup, wait at least 5-10 minutes and apply as desired.

NIGHT-TIME ROUTINE

  1. If wearing makeup, remove with an all-natural cleanser (try the oil-cleansing method!).
  4. Finally, apply a thin layer of AIKI SKIN PIMPLE BUSTER on individual blemishes before going to bed.

Internal Solutions

  • Detox, detox, detox! Replace all chemical and petroleum-laden products that clog pores and add toxic buildup to organs with 100% natural, healing versions.
  • Drink LOTS of water (12 glasses or more a day) each day to help flush out toxins, and rebalance and strengthen your skin.
  • Adopt an elimination diet (avoiding alcohol, caffeine, dairy, wheat, sugar, and soy) for a few weeks to determine possible dietary sensitivities that are causing inflammation in your skin.
  • Include a green smoothie in the mornings to help incorporate more vital nutrients and minerals into your diet and strengthen your skin from the inside-out.
  • Perform weekly exfoliation on your face and body to increase circulation and drain the lymphatic system.
  • Sleep by 11pm and aim for at least 7 hours of sleep each night to allow your organs to fully detoxify.
  • Limit sun exposure and invest in an all-natural sunscreen to protect your skin.
  • Raised stress levels contribute to acne so adopt meditative practices or calming exercises daily.
